Acne Blackhead Removal

When oil collects and hardens in the pores of skin blackheads are formed. The pores are then closed with hardened sebum or oil. Since the pores are open, the tip of clogged grease is exposed to air and oxidizes which turns black. Their dark appearance is because of the densely packed skin cells, which leads to black color.

Hence blackheads are formed in this way. Because of blackheads the pores get blocked and oil glands get affected resulting in pimples. Blackheads, also known as open comedones, are follicles that have a wider than normal opening. They are filled with plugs of sebum and sloughed-off cells and have undergone a chemical reaction resulting in the oxidation of melanin. This gives the material in the follicle the typical black color.

Removing blackheads can be quite challenging and tricky. Improperly removing blackheads can leave scars on your face. You may be sorely tempted to smash, squeeze and scrape the blackheads as soon as they appear, but you need to exercise restraint and a good dose of common sense. A few minutes of satisfaction over getting rid of the blackheads could equal to a lifetime of remorse when scars replace the blackheads. As much as possible, you want to get rid of acne without any scarring or blemishing your skin.

Causes

Acne is caused by the overactivity of the sebaceous glands that secrete oily substances onto the skin. The sebaceous glands of people with acne are especially sensitive to normal blood levels of a hormone called testosterone, found naturally in both men and women.

Testosterone in people prone to acne triggers the sebaceous glands to produce an excess of sebum. At the same time, the dead skin cells lining the openings of the hair follicles (the tubes that hold the hair) are not shed properly and clog up the follicles.

These two effects combined cause a build-up of oil in the hair follicles. This causes blackheads and whiteheads to form.

For some people, their acne does not progress beyond this stage. However in other people, the build-up of oil in the hair follicles creates an ideal environment for a bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes to grow.

These bacteria normally live harmlessly on your skin but when this ideal environment is created, they grow. They feed off the sebum and produce substances that cause a response from your body's immune system. This inflames the skin and creates the redness associated with spots. In more severe 'inflammatory acne', cysts develop beneath the skin's surface. These acne cysts can rupture, spreading the infection into nearby skin tissue. This can result in scarring.

Treatments.

There are some popular blackhead treatment tips.

Blackheads are caused as a result of excess dead skin cells being shed which then plug the pores of a persons skin. It is important that you should take to prevent them from forming in the first place by making sure that you exfoliate your skin on a regular basis. However below we provide some suggestions for blackhead treatment should you suffer from this problem. People often get a blackhead on nose and that can be frustrating.

  • Exfoliate -Use a mild exfoliator that is combined with a low potency benzoyl peroxide. The exfoliate will clear away any dead skin and expose the blackhead whilst the low potency benzoyl peroxide will help to break up and clear the blackhead from the skin. Unfortunately a lot of people tend to over use benzoyl peroxide or do not dilute it enough (is too strong). People also have a tendency to over scrub when exfoliating. It is important that you use the exfoliate and low potency benzoyl peroxide every 3 days or so. As long as you use low potency benzoyl peroxide it is one of the better options available for alleviating the effects of blackhead on nose.

  • Pore Strips -These are advertised everywhere and it glues to the blackhead and then you pull it away and "hey presto" no more blackheads. Using this method is fair at best for removing blackheads but a better method is Clinical Aethetician which will also not cause too much damage to your skin. This is an effective blackhead treatment.

It is important that if you do use pore strips that you do not over use them or they will cause aggravation to your skin which could in turn cause more blackheads to appear and too often the blackhead on nose area occurs.

  • Skintactix Blackhead Dissolver -This dissolves the blackheads in about 3 weeks and it made from natural plant extracts. It contains plant extracts which reduce the excessive cellular production and helps to keep follicles open. Some of the plant extracts contained in this product are also used in the treatment of eczema, dandruff and other conditions of excessive cellular proliferation. There are extracts contained within Skintactix which help to soften and break down the lipids (dry sebum oil that forms the plugs (blackheads) and other extracts in it which help to regulate the production of dihydrotestosterone which stimulates the production of sebum in our bodies. However, whenever you use a blackhead treatment such as Blackhead Dissolver it is important that you skin does not become dry or dehydrated for long periods of time and this will give time for the plugs to harden again and is counter productive to the treatment. Therefore those people who suffer from dry skin and use such a product as this should moisturize their skin to prevent it from becoming drier. There are kits that are designed to balance one's skin so the cycle of dryness and over production of oil can end.
