1.  Effects of Acne on psychiatry

a).  People with Acne tend to avoid meeting people, feel conscious about their pimples on their face and specially tend to avoid parties. They tend to keep thinking what others will say or think about their face . Overall they become introvert.

b).   Not only that , people do also tend to give comments to a person with Acne. They might say “oh ho, today your face is looking very bad” or “when did this new pimple come up”.

c) It has also been found that those with Acne are more active sexually. They might be indulging in sex/masturbating more times than normal for their age(upto 5-6 times a day).

d) People with acne in general have a higher IQ level, reason might be that due to their forced introvert personality they spend more time reading and studying.

e) People with Acne are very sweet and humble to talk to. They are usually very co- operative.

2 .  Effect of psychiatry on Acne

a) Type A personality and those taking to much mental stress are more disposed to Acne.

b) Not only that, any type of stress (including menstrual stress) can dispose to acne.

c) Lack of proper sleep pre disposes to acne and those already having acne, increase the number of pimples.

d) Tendency to use habit forming drugs (including alcohol,nicotine ) increases acne rate.

Although there are prescription medications used for acne control but one of the common choice for women is birth control pill for acne treatment. This approach is only for the fairer sex including the teenagers but definitely not for the males. If the birth control pills are tried by a male for acne control the females hormones may create a great deal of hormonal imbalance in his body.
Most females often experience outbreak of some type of acne just before their menstrual periods. With teens this problem is more accentuated because their hormones are already surging and have not attained and even production cycle. The birth control pill just smoothes out this hormone production thus bringing a relief to acne. Thus use of birth control pill for acne brings out a relief to both the frequency as well as severity of acne in women.

When a girl first enters puberty the horomones estrogen, progesting and testosterone are quite unstable, this fluctuating level of hormones can really lead to severe acne. Teenager acne is a common problem among both sex but for girls experiencing moderate or severe acne, using birth control pills can be a miracle. The breakouts become milder and the hormone systems calm down bringing in acne relief. Adult women appreciate the clearer skin that comes with use of such pills, even though they have not been using it for acne treatment purposely.
